The NYC Weekend Intensive Winners!

#PEIntensive16, entrepreneur, inspiration, startup

For the past two days, we’ve been in NYC with nearly 200 incredible entrepreneurs, making up close to 150 female-founded companies from 26 states. These startups have been absorbing all they can from industry leaders who are sharing the best tools and resources – from advice on how to find funding to how to build your brand to tech tools for non-techies – and have been building a network to support one another.

After a weekend of innovation, our 12 #PEIntensive16 finalists pitched a panel of expert judges, resulting in three winning startups, Komae, Full Harvest, and Cake, who will each receive on-site training, education and mentorship as part of  Project Entrepreneur’s five-week business accelerator program hosted at Rent the Runway’s New York offices, plus individual cash prizes of $10,000.

The expert panel of judges included  Jennifer Hyman, CEO and Co-founder of Rent the Runway; Jennifer Fleiss, Co-founder of Rent the Runway; Janine Shelffo, Co-Head of TMT, UBS Investment Bank; Susan Lyne, President & Founder of BBG Ventures; Carley Roney, Co-founder of The Knot (XO Group); Rebecca Minkoff, Co-founder & Creative Director of Rebecca Minkoff; Katherine Oliver, Principal at Bloomberg Associates; and Anu Duggal, Founding Partner at F Cubed (Female Founders Fund).

Rent the Runway Co-Founder Jenn Hyman shared how challenging it was to narrow the winners down: “I know I speak for all the panelists when I say this was an extremely difficult decision given the huge display of innovation in the room. All of the companies that pitched possess the solid foundations and drive necessary to disrupt their respective industries, proving further that women can change the world!”

Rent the Runway Co-Founder Jenny Fleiss added: “We can’t wait for the winning teams to work alongside us in our office, putting into action everything they learned this weekend to scale their businesses and bring their visions to life.”

Lori Feinsilver, UBS Head of Community Affairs & Executive Communications, Americas shared how excited UBS is to be a partner in supporting the continued growth of these female-founded companies: “The display of talent from across such a diverse set of industries and their potential to transform the business landscape was incredibly inspiring. All of us at UBS are excited to be a part of the women’s journeys and position them for continued growth and success.”
